Batch status pill (bottom status strip)#
| Pill | Meaning |
|---|---|
| IDLE | No batch step is active. |
| RUNNING | A batch step is active; the controller is not reporting a hold. |
| HOLD | Overrides RUNNING — the controller's status word reports the system held. |
| (dimmed, "STALE · as of HH:mm:ss") | The reading is more than ~10s old — may be lagging, not necessarily wrong. |

PLC connection dot (bottom status strip)#
| Dot | State | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| 🟢 Green | Connected | Everything is live. |
| 🟡 Amber | Stale | Reads still succeed; heartbeat hasn't ticked in a few seconds. |
| 🟠 Deep amber | Starved | Wire is up; controller logic isn't advancing. Most values aren't flowing. |
| 🟡 Goldenrod | Connecting / Unknown | No first read yet (e.g. just after startup). |
| 🔴 Red | Disconnected | No successful read in the last several seconds. |

Alarm status glyphs (Process → Alarms)#

| ▲ | Red | Active | The fault is present and unhandled. |
| ◑ | Amber | Silenced | Still active — the siren is quieted, nothing else changed. |
| ✓ | Grey | Resolved | The fault actually cleared. |

Freshness chip (Storage Tank Group, Use Tank Group, MF 1, Dashboard rail)#

|---|---|
| Green LIVE | Data behind this card/screen is current. |
| Amber STALE | Data has stopped advancing — treat numbers as a last-known reading. |
| Grey NO DATA | Nothing has ever been read for this card. |

Banners (top of every screen)#

| Yellow | Demo/Simulation mode | Every value on screen is synthetic — not the real plant. |
| Teal | Read-only mode | Writes are validated on screen but NOT sent to the controller. |
| Red | Startup-degraded | Database or tank-roster problem at boot — call IT. |
| Red (compact) | Active alarm | At least one fault is present — click View to jump to Alarms. |

If you started the wrong batch#
Process → Hold (no password) → confirm HOLD on the status strip → Process → Reset (supervisor/admin password, only offered from Hold) → check the batch's Status in Batch History rather than assuming. Reset does not empty the tank or undo dispensed ingredient. Full procedure: 2. Running batches §2.6.
